The Dish

A must see on any road trip is “The Dish”. It’s official name is the CSIRO Parkes Radio Telescope and was used to capture and broadcast the images of man landing on the moon in 1969 for television. The Dish is one of Australia’s most prominent landmarks standing 64 m wide. It stands out in contrast, towering over the surrounding farmlands of canola fields. Making the Dish a perfect place to take amazing photos for socials. The Dish is located 20km north of Parkes and is free admission. Choose to watch a 3D movie about space, interact with the indoor and outdoor hands-on space displays, check-out the souvenir shop and have a coffee at the café. A definite must see.
